When should I go indexable in a drilling application?

It’s a question our Application Engineers get asked a lot. According to Pat Mulcahy, you should consider using an indexable drill in the below applications.

The hole is 5/8 or larger in diameter

The depth is 2x – 5x the diameter

The hole tolerance is open (> +/- .005″)

If blind holes / you need a flat bottom

If you need to reduce the cost per hole
