“When should I go indexable in a drilling application?” It’s a question our Application Engineers get asked a lot. According to Pat Mulcahy, you should consider using an indexable drill when:
⚙️The hole is 5/8 or larger in diameter
⚙️The depth is 2x – 5x the diameter
⚙️The hole tolerance is open (> +/- .005″)
⚙️If blind holes / needing a flat bottom
⚙️If you need to reduce the cost per hole
